Elmer Allred
Lineage: Elmer, John Sherman, John Marion, Elias Walter, Elias, Elias, Thomas, Solomon born 1680 England
U.S. Army: 9/8/1942 - 9/29/1945
Elmer enlisted on Sept 8, 1942 "Enlistment for the duration of the War or other emergency, plus six months, subject to the discretion of the President or otherwise according to law". He spent the bulk of his time within the European Theater which included Italy where he wrote this letter to his sister Daisy Allred Golden back home in Georgia.
Elmer survived the War and returned home to marry and raise a family. He is buried at Mozley Memorial Gardens, Lithia Springs, Douglas County, Georgia.
The dozen or so letters he wrote to his sister are now owned by Daisy's granddaughter Carole. She would like to make contact with some of Elmer's grandchildren or immediate family and possibly share the originals with them. If you can help with this quest, please email Carole
